4tet Laboratoire
4tet Laboratoire is composed of Romane Bouffioux and Corentin Barro (percussion) and Audrey Mützenberg and Lis Marti (keyboards). The quartet's starting point was a commission from Matthew Shlomowitz for the same ensemble. Enthralled by this configuration of two keyboards, drums, and percussion, the four musicians' collaboration continues in 2025 with their new project, COL/LAB.
COL / LAB
Emerging young composers will be commissioned to compose a new work for the 4tet Laboratory. The composers come from a wide variety of backgrounds; Simon Bahr, for example, works with sonic discoveries on the internet; Aya Metwalli combines Arabic music traditions with contemporary music and has experience in literature, theater, and dance. Juliana Santacruz is influenced by South American music, which gives her a broad perspective on new classical music in Europe. Christian Spitzenstaetter often combines the worlds of jazz and classical music in his works and is also active as a conductor and artistic director of operas and interdisciplinary projects. All four composers are also active on stage as performers. These collaborative choices were made deliberately to create a blend of composer and musician roles and allow both parties to inspire each other.
